UNITED CHRISTIAN CAMPUS MINISTRY – WILMINGTON, NC
SEARCHING FOR FULL-TIME CAMPUS MINISTER


United Christian Campus Ministry (UCCM) is an ecumenical campus ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Presbyterian Church (USA), and The United Methodist Church. UCCM serves the students, staff, faculty and administration on the campuses of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (www.uncw.edu), and Cape Community College (www.ccfc.edu), Wilmington, North Carolina.

The successful candidate must have:

  1. minimum of five years ordained ministry experience – preferably experience in direct ministry with college age young adults, and in working with older students returning to the academic setting;
  2. strong verbal and written communication skills;
  3. experience in using electronic media;
  4. strong organizational skills;
  5. ability to manage multiple projects;
  6. experience with pastoral care and crises response;
  7. ability to collaborate with others and work as a team member with other Campus Ministers;
  8. ability to maintain and develop relationships with local supporting congregations, and engage in creative and enterprising approaches to additional fiscal support.

 

Primary responsibilities include: providing experiences for students to grow in their faith through weekly meetings of the student group FOCUS (Fellowship of Christian University Students), Bible Study, Holy Conversations, Fellowship and Outreach; work with university/college staff, faculty, and administration in creating and leading special times of worship and remembrance; maintain the e-mail communications with students, staff and administration; provide gathering opportunities for the students at the community college; assist the Board of Directors in “telling the story” of campus ministry to local congregations; be the link between the academic and local church settings.
